Upcoming Changes to Workspace ONE Boxer: Farewell to AppForceActivateSSO KVP

Workspace ONE Boxer is VMware’s enterprise mobile email client that provides access to mail, calendar, and contacts across corporate-owned and BYO devices. Boxer offers a consumer-centric user experience while protecting corporate data with enterprise-grade security.

When Workspace ONE Boxer was acquired by VMware in 2015, the app did not have many of the enterprise features required; and therefore, the Workspace ONE SDK was added to the Boxer app to ensure the protection of sensitive corporate data. Because some app features were then duplicated after adding the SDK, such as passcode and data loss prevention (DLP) policies, VMware was providing a key value pair (KVP) called AppForceActivateSSO to provide a method for administrators to either use the native Boxer passcode and DLP settings, or to default to Workspace ONE SDK settings that are configured in the UEM console.

To reduce the redundancy of settings in the Boxer app, VMware will default to the Workspace ONE SDK and remove the native functionality starting July 31, 2021.  If you are using the AppForceActivateSSO KVP, then you are likely impacted by this change.  Please review this knowledgebase article to learn more.
